History and Mission

Detention center

Center objectives aim to implement gender equality, focus on basic inmate rights and daily care, exercise love and caring spirits as to change the inmates from the “heart” and in return create a more harmonious and peaceful society.
 
Taipei Detention Center Shihlin Branch was established on August 1st, 1984, and located at No.2, Lane 200, Shidong Rd., Shihlin Dist., Taipei City. After reformation on July 1st, 1985, Taipei Detention Center Shihlin Branch became Taipei Shihlin Detention Center and was renamed Shihlin Detention Center on September 1st, 1995. On February 13th, 1998 under written instructions by the Ministry of Justice, ShihlinDetention Center was relocated to its current address (No.33, Chingyun Rd., Tucheng City, Taipei County) which is also a facility site for the Taipei Detention Center. Reformation on July 1st, 2010 transformed ShihlinDetention Center into Taipei Women’s Detention Center with Taipei Women’s Branch Prison from the Taipei Prison, auxiliary Rehabilitation  Center and Custodian Institution from the Taipei Women’s Detention Center as its auxiliary facilities.
